De Hoeven in Schaijk is being completely redeveloped and will take on the character of a hamlet.
The Nieuwe Hoeven location in Schaijk, belonging to BrabantZorg, is 50 years old and was built in the “institutional hospital style” of the 1970s, featuring residences along long corridors, where not every resident has their own sanitary facilities. Maintenance is becoming increasingly expensive, which is why the location is being completely renovated and will be given the character of a hamlet.

The development and implementation phase
BrabantWonen has asked vb&t Projectmanagement to take on the full project management for both the development and execution phases, in their capacity as owner of the property.
The plan has been developed together with KAW Architects, Nelissen Ingenieurs, Tielemans Bouwconstructie and will be realised by Peter Peters Bouw.
De Nieuwe Hoeven will be an innovative residential care location, a home for people with severe memory problems. The large building will be replaced by separate buildings. On the grounds, amidst the greenery, a community centre will be built where residents, their families and employees can meet. There will also be 3 courtyards with 10 group homes for 90 residents, each with their own studio with a front door, bathroom, a small pantry and a pleasant outdoor space.
Gardens, meadows and walking paths will be introduced between the buildings, which will play an important role in the daily activities of the residents, improving their well-being and allowing them to move freely. The location will gain the character of a hamlet by following the atmosphere of Brabant farmhouses.

Sustainable, but in what way?
The residential care location is the 1ste A location that is entirely gas-free and built with wood, comprising timber frame construction, which results in a significant CO2 reduction in the building process. Hundreds of solar panels will be installed on the roofs, making the buildings sustainable, and the ground will be used for heating and cooling the buildings. The cooling will increase the comfort for the residents.
The entire development will be delivered in phases, with the first homes already completed.
