Reinier van Arkel (RvA) is on the eve of a major redevelopment of its “Zorgpark Voorburg” site in Vught. One of the wishes, in line with the strategic Real Estate vision, is to dispose of a large part of the current site for (regular) housing construction, social and economic functions, or other care providers.

In addition, RvA has a project for the remaining part of the site (approx. 24 ha.) to properly (re)organise its own accommodation. This will involve some renovation/sustainability improvements of existing buildings, but also includes (replacement) new construction. The plans are part of the development vision that was jointly created by the municipality and Reinier van Arkel.
For the replacement new build, vb&t projectmanagement has been commissioned for the full and overall project and cost management for both the development and construction phases.
The (replacement) new construction concerns a new location for the expertise centre for child and adolescent psychiatry, a new location for Small-Scale Intensive Supervised Living (KIBW), and a new central building for the support services, including a treatment centre for Psycho Trauma Centre, among others.
Initially, together with the architect (Oomen Architecten) and Reinier van Arkel, we drew up the requirements for the various projects. This was done through workshops that prompted participants to let go of old patterns and, crucially, to think about the ideal way of working/providing care and what is important to clients. This has led to a number of valuable new insights and ultimately to the creation of an efficient (spatial) programme.
At present, the projects are in the design phase, with work underway to create new and contemporary buildings. A key design principle concerns the realisation of a Healing Environment, with a focus on promoting people's wellbeing, recovery, and functioning. Aspects such as light, sound, surroundings, and architecture are utilised to create an environment that fosters the recovery process, while also contributing to a safe and comfortable setting.
In the coming period, the various designs will be further developed into a final design. The design team consists of Oomen Architecten, Huisman & van Muijen, Tielemans and vb&t Brandveiligheid and will be coordinated by vb&t Projectmanagement.
