We reject discrimination

30 March 2023

On 22 November, the NVM launched the campaign against housing discrimination, in collaboration with, among others, the national government and Discrimination.nl. At vb&t, we consider fair opportunities extremely important. vb&t Rental Agents is therefore committed to rejecting discrimination.

Discrimination in the housing market

Out a study by the Verwey Jonker Institute It has become apparent that there is still a lot of discrimination by letting agents. Through mystery calls, researchers contacted letting agents and measured how they responded to discriminatory requests.

At least 12% of the housing intermediaries in the survey indicated they were willing to select candidates based on criteria that indirectly discriminate against people, such as the potential tenant's type of job or not allowing spicy cooking.

The fight against discrimination

At vb&t Letting Agents, we believe it's important that everyone has a fair chance of finding a home. We are committed to facilitating equal opportunities and rejecting discrimination.

During the campaign, vb&t Letting Agents therefore reflected on its own processes and paid attention to the rights of our clients.

Employees have completed an e-learning module to refresh.

In the future, vb&t Letting Agents will continue to strictly monitor for discrimination and keep the conversation alive.
