State-of-the-art office building Apollolaan 171 in Amsterdam

4 April 2024

The latest state-of-the-art office building at Apollolaan 171 has officially opened. Commissioned by Kroonenberg Groep, the office building was designed by OMA / David Gianotten. The result is a transparent building that responds to its surroundings, defined by Berlage's historic architecture from the early 20th century.Ste yuck.

In Amsterdam Zuid, Apollolaan is a prominent green boulevard. The district is characterised by a mix of modern buildings with both residential and office functions, and historic city villas.

The office has been developed as a contemporary workspace offering a more open working environment, integrated into its surroundings. The office is situated on top of the old building's basement, which has been retained. The old foundation has been reused to minimise waste. More on this subject can be read on this page: infomil.nl.

Welcoming office

The side of the building is characterised by interlocking pieces of glass. This side of the office overlooks Apollolaan.

The transparent glass façade ensures natural light enters the building, giving it an inviting and open appearance. Green marble has been used to decorate the central hall and the lobby, which complements the greenery outside from the many trees.

The main entrance is located on the corner. The building is stepped and clad with custom-made, interwoven bricks. Due to the building's shape, there are several roof terraces, including a rooftop terrace, which is used by the tenants.

Attention to sustainability

A great deal of attention has been paid to sustainability; due to the green environment and to meet Amsterdam's ambitious sustainability programme. Solar panels have been installed, which power the charging stations for electric cars, as well as sedum roofs with rainwater retention. The building is also equipped with a state-of-the-art climate control system and triple glazing.

Tracy Emin's neon pink signature “The more of you the more I love you” has been reinstalled on the opaque outer wall of the old building on the driveway to the car park.

A total of 6,600 m2 of office space has been realised, which is being let in sections. The construction was carried out by JP van Eesteren and we had the privilege of performing the project management on behalf of Kroonenberg Groep.
